Through an evolutionary process of intense trials and tribulations at Gurdwaras, which you may have encountered when planning your Sikh Vivah, or Interfaith, Hindu Sikh Wedding, we transitioned into a special niche where like-minded couples started utilizing our specialized services.

I had the joy of filming a Sikh ceremony performed by Freedom and Leela at The Fermenting Cellar in Toronto. As a first time working a Sikh ceremony I was truthfully quite nervous. I wanted to do a good job yet be respectful to the guests, priests and to the scriptures. Freedom and Leela were very warm and helped me get adjusted and even assisted with my headpiece. When we returned home, COVID then closed the world, and we were not able to see one another for nearly 2 years. We applied for his US fiance visa, and while that was pending, travel restrictions were suddenly lifted. With the help of Grace, we were led to find Freedom and Leela and the kind souls, Bob and Jill of AmaTierra (owners of the yoga/retreat and Wellness Center) in Costa Rica, and this ceremony came together with ease and peace. Freedom and Leela's booking manager, Mandeep Kaur, kept us apprised with clear and direct communication every step of the way, so we had peace of mind leading up to the big day as well. Mr. Freedom Singh and friends can improve their business model by following Sikh Rehit Maryada and Sri Akal Takht... Sahib, the highest seat of authority for the Sikhs.Sikh Rehit Maryada, Chapter XI, Article XVIII, Point K. states, “Persons professing faiths other than the Sikh faith cannot be joined in wedlock by the Anand Karaj ceremony.” Dr. Freedom totally disregards Sikh beliefs and traditions through his service by ignoring the Sikh Rehit Maryada, and the Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the highest seat of authority for the Sikhs. In 1998, Akal Takht Sahib issued a mandate to the worldwide Sikhs asking them to not take Guru Granth Sahib’s saroops to hotels and palaces, which at that time had become a common practice. Anand Karajs would take place in palaces, where alcohol and meat would be served concurrently. I recently contacted Mandeep, Dr. Freedom Singh's booking manager, for my upcoming destination wedding (in Miami... Beach). The booking manager was inflexible to work with and adamant that on top of the $4900 to book Dr. Freedom Singh's services to perform the Anand Karaj in Miami, I would have to pay for 2 nights at the St Regis (venue of the wedding) despite having a hold at a hotel less than a mile away where I have room blocks available. The additional cost would be ~$2,000 on top of the $4900. If Dr. Freedom is already traveling with the Holy Book, and I'm covering air fare and car rental, it makes no sense why booking at a great hotel that is a 5 min ride away from the wedding venue is not possible. Seems to more into the money than actually presiding over a loving couple's ceremony. Will not recommend to anyone.read more

I have many people in my family who do not sit in the gudwara for a marriage as they get bored and stayed the whole duration as they found it amazing. Then to some of the guests who wouldn’t understand punjabi or the meanings of the traditions everything was explained beautifully to pull together the most amazing, perfect, respectful ceremony I have ever witnessed. Dr Freedom enabled our Sikh son to have a Sikh wedding ceremony with his partner of choice. My son and his fiancé were... told they only had 1 option to have a Sikh wedding: To Lie : in order to marry in a Gurdwara Sophie would have to lie and change her name to Kaur and sign a ‘declaration’ even if she removed Kaur from her name afterwards. We received threats and intimidation from extremists (I cannot call them Sikhs due to their ignorance of Sikhism) telling us we could not take the Guru Granth Sahib Ji from a Gurdwara to a hotel as this would be disrespectful. We are eternally thankful to have come across Dr Freedom who assured us everything would be fine. On the day he spoke in English and Punjabi teaching all present the meaning of an Anand Karaj and the 4 Lavan. He filled our hearts with love and enabled all guests to share in a beautiful ceremony that is still being talked positively a week later. I have attended many Sikh weddings but this was the first time I truly understood the ceremony.read more

From the start I was very impressed with their professionalism. I received a welcome package including detailed specific requirements, a price quote and a contract. I think I can speak for most people who are planning a wedding definelty feel more comfortable and secure with a contract in place than nothing at all. What touched my heart more is that I was being married in my faith by a interfaith couple. It was almost as if fate had stepped in and provided me with a beautiful example of how love can bring everything together. Love and acceptance are after all apart of the Sikh founding principles. Generally a good experience for the guests. We had guests from different cultures, both Indian and non-Indian, so the... explanation of the Anand Karaj was very helpful. The only few things that I would watch for are 1) The coordinator Mandeep, although friendly, made it difficult to get our questions about sound, directly. We wanted them to speak with our sound guy for 10 min on a phone call, but she wouldn't do it. We had to have the guy show up the day before to speak with Dr. Singh. 2) Listen to the bride. I specifically asked for NO hymns to be sung in English, but they did it anyway. Didn't really understand why that happened. I wanted the traditional ceremony, translated. Our guests liked every part of the ceremony but the English hymn, as it just didn't fit. Super awkward. The explanations of the actual traditional ceremony in English was great, along with a bit of humor. Overall, the ceremony went well. Just make sure no one goes rogue and doesn't follow directions of the family. When you fly someone in and ask them specifically to do something a certain way, your expectation is that it gets done. 3) Dr. Singh literally made an announcement advertising his services from BEHIND the Guru Granth Sahib after the lavaan ceremony. Tacky. Just leave a card at the back table.read more

Back in December of 2011, Freedom and Leela conducted our daughter’s destination Wedding in Costa Rica. They not only... performed a Hindu Sikh Wedding Ceremony but also gave us momentous evenings of music during Mehndi and for Mayia on the beach. I had an amazing opportunity to attend a destination wedding in Jamaica in april. The ceremony was beautify and the... view was just breathtaking. It was a pleasure to have met Leela and Freedom at the wedding. The anad karaj that Freedom performed brought tears to my eyes. I loved the fact that it was a mix of Punjabi and English and that everything that was said was understandable. After having attended this wedding, it makes me want to have a destination wedding myself. If that wish of mine comes true, I would love to have Leela and Freedom perform the ceremony. This was the first destination wedding I've ever attended. The experience was absolutly breath taking. It was so... personalized and in the moment.
